Article written by Online education resources
Most people are tired of being an employee and want a break from the typical 9-5 grind. However, you may not want your expertise and education going a waste and still want to work in your industry. Here are some tips on how to freelance your skills.
Offer a service people want – Being a freelancer means that you have the benefit of working on your own time. However, with its benefits, freelancing comes with some insecurity; your paycheck is never guaranteed. To make your future more secure provide a service people want. Look at your local paper and Internet to find out what people are offering their clients. You could also contact a few freelancers and ask them about the service they are offering.
Don’t quit your day job; yet – You should first establish yourself in your freelance business and this can sometimes take months. In the meanwhile, do your homework and stay with your current employer. This will give you the security you need to do sufficient research.
Generating business – Finding clients can be a challenge. To start with, create a portfolio of your skills and samples of your work. Inform your family, friends, and colleagues about your new freelance business. You should also join local organizations, volunteer and do a few cold calls. You should expect rejection, but don’t let it stop you from trying.
